When you meet Miriam, you experience an abundance of life, laughter and a passion for colour and design.
Here’s Miriam’s story so far….
Working as a visual merchandiser for 10 years and having a passion for interior styling, I started my own business ‘MimConcepts’ combining my two loves.
I wanted to develop my skills further and gain more knowledge around design and colour, so I became apart of the HDS community and completed my Certificate IV in Design. Throughout the course, I learnt alot about why my designs were working (or why there weren’t not as successful as they could be) and the process for design. This made me to slow down and consider every creative choice I made, resulting in successful designs. This was made evident when I won the 2014 Achievement Award for Certificate IV in Design plus the Industry Design Award from local homewares store Me Me.
When designing for myself I’m drawn to Scandinavian and Vintage styles, thus designing and producing a Scandinavian inspired tapestry weave for my major project. Weaving gave me the space to create something that was therapeutic and the opportunity to work with natural fibers.
With a fresh understanding of the design process, I will now be producing and selling a range of my tapestry weaving’s on etsy. My first range is inspired by modern Scandinavian interiors with tones of pink, peach, grey and mint alongside contrasts of black and white.
