Congratulations to the Freestyle Art students on an amazing exhibition!

The last eight weeks have seen students discover their creativity in a whole new way. Local artist and educator Kiasmin Burrell had them experimenting with oils, acrylics, pastels and charcoal to name a few.

Discovering the worlds of Matisse, Van Gogh, Pollock, Goldsworthy and local artists Shane Westerhagan, Sophie Brenton and Kiasmin allowed students to expand their art knowledge in a fun environment.

The focus of the course was to free creativity through play, allowing the medium to guide the artist. The process was unpredictable and exciting. Kiasmin commented, ‘ it was a fabulous experience. I loved every minute of it. But most rewarding was seeing the creative transformation that took place, the shift in perception.’

Visitors were treated to a sumptuous feast of mixed media pieces including, life drawing, abstract oils and colourful pastels. Students spoke about their journeys and experiences and the response was overwhelmingly positive.

As an added bonus sales of art works raised a substantial amount for local charity Kidsafe.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who supported this wonderful event!
