A few of the design students took advantage of the opportunity for a road trip and joined Donna for Equinox in Sydney. Stopping off along the way we got to see what an Interior Designer really gets up to…

First stop was North Shore timber & hard ware. Donna was on the hunt for ‘the perfect wood’ to include in the great warehouse development. Unfortunately, they did not have the goods.

Second stop was Gineico (gineicointeriors.com). The studio was so new that it had not even been set up, yet Donna and her ‘Designer’ friends were warmly invited in. We got a one on one tutorial of all things lighting from around the world. We were also lucky enough to be armed with (expensive looking) lighting guides – Thanks Pierluigi, I know I will certainly be recommending you in the future!

Then, onto the main event. Equinox is a trade event for Architects, Landscape Architects and Interior Designers. The event was held at L’Aqua Rooftop Bar, Circular Quay. Attending the event was a great opportunity to hobnob it with industry associates and learn firsthand about both well-established and new building products and interior finishes.

The most exciting part by far was being presented with a lanyard with our business name and our title of – “Interior Designer”!

We consumed delicious hor’dourves and a few glasses of bubbly all while ensuring our business cards had landed in each store holder prize pool for the chance to win prizes, prizes, prizes! But none of us won the highly sought after IPad mini…

Enjoyment

We did however walk away with arms full of bags containing brochures, tile samples, pens, stubby coolers & (my personal favourite) a scale ruler. All in all a great trip.
